discover the healing power of food

Melissa obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Master of Science in Nutrition degree at Bastyr University. After completing her degree at Bastyr, she then went on to complete a dietetic internship, approved by the American Dietetic Association, at the University of Washington. Clinical training sites included University of Washington Medical Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. She is currently working as an oncology dietitian at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and has been in private practice since January 2006.

Melissa strongly believes our health is connected to the health of our environment.  Therefore, she practices and encourages sustainable living. Eating local and organic food is beneficial for our planet and our health. Melissa can guide you to healthful food choices that make sense for you and the environment.

Melissa is passionate about guiding others to develop a healthy relationship with food. She believes in providing a comforting, non-judgmental environment for a client to learn and make positive changes. She understands that weight issues are not always just about food. Stress, emotions, and boredom often are associated with overeating. Processes such as off and on dieting can lead to eventual, increased weight gain (even though you may have lost some weight while on the diet). Melissa works with clients to help them become intuitive eaters, which allows them to move away from diets and achieve a natural and healthy weight.
